In Fossil Bluff

Recently I posted images of some of the vintage antique gold jewelry shown below. Often when I post either other items of intrinsic value or even my own creations, the first question posted is, “How Much?” This is an odd thing to say. I mean I get it. There isn’t a price tag on it – no bar-code, or even a whisper of what the real cost was of making such items.

When you come across a website that has Masonic items for sale that are priced at thousands of dollars, it may cause you to gasp and then oodle over the exquisite quality, luxurious build materials, and design style that is uncommon in today’s machine produced products.

Why would a Mason ask how much and then immediately purchase a .40 cent ring guaranteed to turn your finger green? Why is that? Have we become a fraternity of searching for the lowest price and lowest value? Have we as a fraternity agreed that the brand equity (describes the level of sway a brand has in the minds of consumers, and the value of having a brand that is identifiable and well thought of.) of our fraternity has no more loyalty than a ‘sort by price’ button on a website selling dye-sublimation printed mouse-pads with huge throbbing square and compasses on it? It’s quality, not quantity – right? The more you show the less you know, right?

The reality is that as we try to peer into the future of Craft Masonry, we see more and more of these vintage masonic items become available. This is simply the tender welcoming of our grim patron saint. These vintage masonic items are unlike any newly made item anywhere. Their rarity and craftsmanship makes them truly incredible. Their value is timeless which you know when you see it.

Market Square Jewelers has a fine collection of high quality, high value, extremely rare investment masonic regalia and jewels. Take a look at their website. Think about what owning an item like those pictured below would mean to your affinity for the Craft and the equity you would be placing in your commitment to truly be a better man.
