Past Master Collection
Our Fossil Bluff Past Master LUX Collection with the Sun, represents Light and the Wisdom of Solomon. The Sun signifies that the Past master did not ask for riches, wealth, or long life; but has asked for wisdom and knowledge in Masonry. He has sat before the Great Light in Masonry and observed the Sun while Rising, Meridian Height, and finally Setting in the East.
Brief Meaning of The Past Master Emblem
The usual jewel of a Past Master in the United States is a pair of compasses extended to sixty degrees on the fourth part of a circle (some may call it a protractor), with a sun in the center. In most jurisdictions a square is also present.
The Quadrant is the arc that both the Square and Compasses rest upon. The Quadrant clearly marks the degree at which the Compasses are open at. That of an equilateral triangle. It’s precise measurement indicates that a Past Master is to ensure that Masons are making proper use of their working tools. It is for this reason, the Past Master is responsible for maintaining a constant watchful eye over the culture and traditions of the Lodge that Masonry shall never fall into darkness.
