Just the FAQ's. Nothing but the FAQ's.

Will the elements effect my marble sculpture?

Marble is marble. Our sculptures are rock-hard and are composed of over 92% marble. The remaining 8% is UV-resistant resin. Despite advances in chemistry, resin has one drawback – when exposed to UV (ultraviolet) radiation, such as full sun, it may discolor. The Ashlar is cold to the touch, feels, and looks like rock no matter its age.

Why is my Key flexible or warped?

This is normal! By design, the keys are made slightly flexible. This is to minimize chances of them fracturing during active use or accidentally sitting on them when worn attached to cordon.  Earlier versions were brittle and shattered easily. Keys that are warped on arrival can be easily straightened out by flexing it back into shape.

Are holographic die-cut stickers removable and reusable?

Our stickers are made of strong vinyl, they aren’t meant to be removed and reused. While you may be able to transport your stickers from one surface to another, it will likely lose its shape and adhesiveness and create visible creases in the shiny parts.

Are holographic die-cut stickers microwave/dishwasher safe?

These holographic stickers are NOT microwave safe. The material of our stickers will not survive the intense heat or radiation from a microwave. However they are water repellant, making them dishwasher safe and keeping the adhesive strong.

What is a Holographic sticker?

Whether you refer to them as hologram stickers, holographic stickers, holograph stickers or simply holo stickers, we’ll know what you mean even though it may seem confusing. Let’s take a moment to clear up the differences. A hologram is a 3D image which is typically formed when multiple light sources interfere with each other making an image appear out of seemingly nothing! Think of R2D2 projecting Princess Leia saying “Help Me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You’re My Only Hope.” Something that is holographic however involves multiple colors or light frequencies interacting with each other; so a hologram produces a holographic image or reflection.

Magnet application notes

Applying the magnet

  1. Use the magnet on smooth, flat or gently curved metallic surfaces.
  2. Make sure the entire magnet is flat against the metal surface. Do not place over bumps (molding, decals, pin striping, rivets, gaps, etc.) or concave areas. Air pockets will result in a weak bond. NO AIR POCKETS!
  3. Do NOT use on horizontal metal surfaces exposed to direct sunlight (such as automobile hoods), temperatures exceeding 160°F (71°C) or temperatures below -15°F (-26°C). Exposure to cold weather will make the magnet more brittle so use caution when handling.
  4. Be aware that long-term use on surfaces frequently exposed to sunlight (such as vehicles) can result in uneven fading of the surface because the magnet-covered area is shielded from ultraviolet rays.
Are your magnets suitable for cars?

Yes, our custom masonic refrigerator magnets adhere to most cars. Depending on conditions they can last 2 – 3 years.

Please note: For car use it is best to clean the surface before applying the magnet. To guard against moisture and dirt buildup between the magnet and the surface, the magnet needs to be removed at regular intervals to clean both surfaces.

How long will the sticker last?

I have one on my Ford F-150 that is 4 years old and still looks great. It’s hard to know how long it will last given some of the following variables:

  1. Carwash bristle scrubbers
  2. Wiper blades
  3. Rain, hail, crazy weather.
  4. Laser beams and death rays – etc.
How do I apply a vinyl car decal?

We’ve included an application guide to demonstrate how to apply your car sticker.

Why would I need a reversed car sticker?

Great question. There are a couple of simple answers.

  1. You want to place the sticker on the inside of a clear surface to protect it from the outside elements. Some people use ‘Ice Scrapers’ in colder climates that may scratch off the frozen sticker! Sometimes very aggressive automated car wash systems can actually cause the vinyl decal to begin to peel off too.
  2. You want to let your light shine! And why shouldn’t you? Perhaps place it on the inside of your car window right next to your VIN number.
Can the marble sculpture be customized?

Currently, we don’t have an effective or attractive way to customize our marble sculptures. Engraving or customization will need to be sourced in your own area.

Do you make the marble sculpture in different colors or different designs on it?

Nope. Allegorically, the stones used to erect KST were made of the finest marble, and they were white and so are our marble sculptures. Perhaps in the distant future, we may attempt it – but it is not on the road map.

The item says “Hand Crafted.” What does that mean exactly?

An over simplified answer is as follows. Hand Crafted means that items are built assembled or created by a human hand. In the case of a pen, we locate the metal pieces, mechanisms and materials such as wood, acrylics or antler. The material is then cut, drilled, and a hollow brass core is inserted into the material and trimmed once the adhesive cures. These “blanks” are then turned on a lathe with varying chisels to achieve the finished diameter. They are then sanded and finished with different finishes depending on the material. Once completed, the pen parts are “pressed” into the blanks to create a finished pen.

What is Bonded Marble?

Our bonded marble is a mixture of stone aggregate (92%), which is a byproduct of the cutting process in quarries, and a resin-polymer (8%) as casting material, which allows the marble to take the form of molds to produce items in great detail that are very affordable.

What makes our Masonic gifts magnetic?

For most of our masonic gifts we use rare earth neodymium magnets that are strategically placed within the product at the time of casting. Occasionally these magnets may become visible at the time of sanding.

Other products may have flat sheet style magnets affixed to the back of the product using 3M Marine Grade Silicone which is a high quality silicone designed for harsh environments.

Are our magnetic products safe to use on Cars?

Short answer: No

Fossil Bluff does not recommend that you put any of our magnetic products on your vehicle for two reasons. First, most of our magnetic emblems are flat and cars aren’t flat. This could result in a poor marrying of the magnet to the vehicle and the magnet would fall off. Automatic car-wash services may also cause the emblem to release from your vehicle. And lastly, they are too pretty and may ‘walk-off’ on their own.

** If you absolutely MUST have this on your car, we recommend using 3M VHB Double Sided Foam Tape as an adhesive backing.

Can I enhance the patina on my Fossil Bluff products?

While patina development is typically a natural process that happens of many years, Fossil Bluff makes every effort to provide products that have the maximum desired patina already applied. You may try adding extra simulated aging processes to your product however this will void any return or warranty policies.

Does a Patina affect the life of a Fossil Bluff product?

The patina on Fossil bluff products are applied by hand and are a representation of the natural aging process. The patina does not affect the quality, longevity or sturdiness of our products. However any application of chemicals or heavy scrubbing on the surface of some of our products may result in the removal of the patina.
